What should be considered when purchasing a coreless brushless motor? A coreless brushless motor is a semiconductor switching device that achieves electronic commutation, replacing traditional contact-based commutators and brushes. It is widely used in applications such as cassette recorders, video recorders, electronic instruments, and automated office equipment. What should you pay attention to when purchasing a coreless brushless motor? Let’s take a look.

1. Voltage of Coreless Brushless Motors The voltage is provided by an electronic switching circuit controlled by the output of a position sensor. When selecting a DC brushless motor, the first step is to choose the correct voltage. Based on the customer’s needs, select the rated voltage to determine the driver’s voltage parameters. Ensure that the voltage used during no-load and full-load conditions does not exceed the range specified by the driver.
2. Current of Coreless Brushless Motors Select the driver’s peak current. The method for determining the peak current is as follows: if the motor’s rated input current is Ir (A), then the peak current should be Ip (A) = 2 × Ir. Otherwise, the driver’s output current may lack sufficient engineering margin during operation. If the motor’s rated output power (or maximum output power) Pr (W) and the driver voltage Vr (V) are known, then the peak current should be Ip (A) ≥ 4 × Pr / Vr.
3. Operating Temperature of Coreless Brushless Motors The motor can be configured based on its parameters, but these must be set according to the specific motor model. The operating temperature range should also be considered, as a wider temperature range typically results in a higher cost.
4. Resistance of Coreless Brushless Motors To meet power insulation requirements and ensure normal driver operation, the insulation resistance between the motor’s Hall sensor ground wire and the motor winding wire, as well as between the Hall sensor wire, winding wire, and the motor housing, should be greater than 100 MΩ at 500 VDC. The motor should also withstand 600 VAC / 50 Hz / 1 mA for 1 second without breakdown.
