How to repair common faults in micro DC motors? Micro DC motors are increasingly popular during their development, but various issues, big and small, can still arise during normal use. Therefore, we need to learn relevant knowledge to address minor problems and perform repairs.

If the shaft of a micro DC motor is slightly bent, it can be repaired by polishing. If the bending exceeds 0.2mm, it can be corrected using a press and then polished to restore its original condition. If the bending is too severe to repair, the shaft should be replaced promptly.

For wear on the journal of a micro DC motor shaft, if the wear is minimal, a layer of chrome can be plated on the journal and then ground to the required size. For severe wear, surfacing welding can be applied first, followed by windowing to restore it to the standard size. If the journal wear is beyond repair, replacement should be considered.

When cracks or transverse cracks on the shaft do not exceed 10%–15% of the shaft diameter, or longitudinal cracks do not exceed 10% of the shaft length, surfacing welding followed by trimming can be used to meet specifications. If the cracks are too severe, replacement should be considered.

For repairs to the housing and end cover of a coreless motor, if the clearance between the housing and end cover is too large, it can be repaired by surfacing welding followed by trimming. If the bearing end cover is too loose, it can be adjusted using a punch and then the bearing can be pressed into the end. For the cover of high-power micro DC motors, methods such as electroplating can be used for repair.

Daily maintenance is crucial for reducing and preventing faults in coreless motors during operation. The most important aspect is to strengthen routine inspections and promptly address the root causes of any abnormal conditions. After an incident occurs, thorough accident analysis and appropriate countermeasures are essential to reduce the frequency of incidents, minimize repair workload, and improve the operational efficiency of micro DC motors.
